About Market Development Facility (MDF)
At MDF, our teams work with businesses, associations and governments in Asia Pacific to help farmers and workers thrive. We use a market systems (MSD) approach to
achieve long-term, lasting growth and create sustainable jobs for poor women and men.

Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) is central to our work on the ground, and our teams in Fiji, Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are dedicated to ensuring that our activities benefit women and girls. MDF is funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT). It is implemented by Palladium in partnership with Swisscontact.

In Fiji, MDF focuses on developing a growing, diversified and inclusive tourism industry, while also improving the competitiveness of Fiji's high value agriculture and urban industries.

About the Role
The business adviser will be responsible for designing and managing interventions working closely with a large variety of strategic private and public players to achieve sustainable inclusive growth.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for economic research and analysis.
  • Responsible for intervention development and measurement.
  • Manage implementation of at least two partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance of interventions and activities in line with relevant guidelines.

Requirements

  • A degree in business, agriculture, economics, business management or other related discipline (or equivalent professional experience in that field); with experience in tourism, agriculture or urban industries
  • A positive attitude, an inquisitive mind and capacity to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Excellent command of English, both verbal and written
  • Be prepared to accept the demands of extensive travel throughout the country to meet key stakeholders, conduct research and monitor activities
  • Familiarity with issues affecting the local economy, the current business environment, international trends in business and the global economy (preferred).
