Project Overview and Role
Palladium is seeking a Project Director for the USAID/MOMENTUM 2B opportunity, a potential upcoming global project focusing on providing targeted TA to increase demand for and availability of high-quality MNCH/FP/RH information, services, and supplies by private providers, as well as expanding public-private partnerships. The Project Director must have the leadership, professional relationships that demonstrate her or his ability to be a global thought leader in this field, as well as ensure that the global project fulfills its goals and objectives. This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC. To enable adequate managerial oversight of the project, it is envisioned that the Project Director's international travel will be limited to 25-30%. The Project Director will report to the VP, Health. This position is contingent upon award and funding
o Direct the project's strategic vision, design, and implementation with the aim of advancing the project purpose, objectives, and guiding principles.
o Oversee a team of senior technical and program management staff and facilitate strong communication and coordination with and between all team members.
o Lead development of annual workplans for timely submission to and approval by the client and ensure that agreed upon activities and targets are fully accomplished, meet expected technical and management quality standards, and are delivered on schedule and on budget.
o Provide oversight of project subcontractors/subawardees, ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables, and facilitate regular communication among implementing partners to encourage maximum participation in the project.
o Serve as primary point of contact for the client/donor and ensure communications flow smoothly.
o Develop, manage, and maintain strategic partnerships with USAID, other U.S. government agencies and projects, host-country governments and counterparts, international donors, multilateral organizations, and civil society and private sector partners in developing countries.
o Identify opportunities and negotiate partnership programs to leverage synergistic donor, governmental, and organizational resources.
o Promote sustainability of project aims and activities through engendering ownership by host countries and building capacity of host-country individuals, institutions, and systems.
The Project Director will have the following skills and experience:
- A total of at least 20 years of experience on public health projects in/for developing countries or countries in transition, including 15 years of progressively increasing responsibility in leading and managing successful USAID programs of global or regional scope in the areas of MNCH/FP/RH or related areas.
- A master's degree or higher in public health, medicine, international development, business administration, or social sciences, or other health- or management-related advanced degree required.
- Demonstrated international credibility as a leader on MNCH/FP/RH and related issues in developing countries.
- Demonstrated experience in building partnerships to achieve mutual goals and objectives, including with U.S. government agencies, host-country governments and counterparts, international donors, multilateral organizations, and civil society and private sector partners in developing countries.
- Experience with multiple health intervention areas, with a strong grounding in one or more of the following, MNCH, FP/RH, adolescent health, and nutrition, as well as expertise in private sector engagement in these areas.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and interaction within the project and to promote and position the project in the broader global health arena.
- Strong management skills to guide all project human, technical, and financial resources.
- Fluency/proficiency in a second language of relevance to a developing country context (highly desirable).
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills in English
