To serve as a technical lead on Palladium's work on both existing projects and prospective ones in the area of private sector engagement related to economic growth, market systems development, and food security/agriculture/natural resource management.
The role encompasses business development and technical delivery on projects, principally financed by USAID, that have objectives related to economic growth and private sector engagement in particular. The role reports to the Vice President, Economic Growth and Governance of the Americas Business Unit of Palladium International LLC.

Responsibilities

Business Development:
  • Identify, assess, and lead positioning and teaming for new business opportunities;
  • Serve as capture manager (responsible for technical direction, teaming, staffing, and budgeting) for proposals in conjunction with technical writers, recruiters, proposal coordinator, pricing manager, and other team members;
  • Serve as lead writer and/or capture manager of technical proposals drawing upon economic growth/private sector development as applied to specific country contexts;
  • Facilitate storyboarding sessions and set overall win themes and technical approaches that guide other members of proposal teams;
Technical Leadership:
  • Conduct short-term technical assignments on topics such as market systems development, sustainability, private sector engagement, among other relevant topics;
  • Lead the design and technical direction of international development projects for USAID and other international donors;
  • Maintain strong and mutually respectful relationships with partners and consultants that can provide technical expertise to Palladium-managed projects;
  • Provide thought leadership (writing blogs and white papers, conducting speaking engagements, etc.) and work with others to promote and market Palladium's technical capability;
  • Serve as technical advisor for field and HQ programs in all areas of economic growth, focusing on private sector engagement and sustainability

Requirements

  • Work experience in international development, including familiarity with USAID and other international donors;
  • Demonstrated expertise and professional network in private sector engagement and/or economic governance, including hands-on field implementation experience in developing countries;
  • Track record of business development success, including as capture manager and lead technical writer;
  • Consulting experience involving business development and/or project management for USAID contracts;
  • Preferred: Fluency in one or more of the following languages: French, Arabic, Spanish;
  • Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant field.
Key competencies and professional expertise required:
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills, and the ability to conceptualize project design and implementation in the field of private sector engagement;
  • Familiarity with USAID and other donor-funded economic growth program design, implementation pitfalls, and innovative tools & approaches;
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, with multiple tasks and across time-zones;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Sound problem-solving and decision-making;
  • Well-organized with high attention to detail; and
  • Ability to travel and work abroad approximately 20-25% of the time.
