The conference will explain the Kaplan-Norton framework - The Execution Premium Process™ from theory to practice. Over the course of the first day Dr Kaplan himself will walk you through the entire framework, describing what success looks like and how to achieve it.

Dr. Robert S. Kaplan: Palladium Founder & Senior Fellow, Marvin Bower Professor of Leadership Development, Emeritus, Harvard Business School
- Robert S. Kaplan is the world’s leading authority on strategic performance measurement. He is a co-founder of both Palladium (and its predecessor firm, Balanced Scorecard Collaborative). He advises Palladium practitioners on emerging best practices and speaks at Palladium events around the world.
- Kaplan was co-developer of both activity-based costing and the Balanced Scorecard. He has authored or co-authored 19 books and more than 150 papers including 23 in Harvard Business Review. Recent books include The Execution Premium: Linking Strategy to Operations for Competitive Advantage (2009), the fifth Balanced Scorecard book co-authored with David Norton, and Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing with Steve Anderson.
- He was admitted into the Hall of Fame of Top 50 Thinkers in 2012. Elected to the Accounting Hall of Fame in 2006, he received the Lifetime Contribution Award for Distinguished Contributions to Advancing the Management Accounting Profession from the Institute of Management Accountants in 2008 and the Lifetime Contribution Award from the Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association (AAA) in 2006. He has also received many other Awards and Recognition from organizations around the globe.
Quique has over 16 years of international experience in management consulting, with projects in more than 25 countries across the Middle East, Europe, the Americas and Africa. He first joined Palladium in 1999 and has performed various roles combining business development and project direction functions. His experience includes projects in strategy planning and execution, change management, organizational structure and corporate performance management. Quique is a frequent speaker at strategy management and corporate performance events and summits, with experience as a training and facilitator for management trainings. He holds an MBA from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, Madrid.
His innovative and creative approach to problem solving, as well as a deep knowledge of the GCC and African markets, give him a unique ability to understand business issues, lay out financial and resource constraints and develop practical solutions grounded in the local and regional realities. A Kaplan-Norton Balanced Scorecard Certified Professional, Richard has experience in transferring the knowledge through internal workshops and deploying the full array of Kaplan and Norton solutions and tools for a wide range of clients, from start-ups to multinationals and governments, ensuring alignment to ambitious visions, and successful implementation of performance management processes.

9:10-11:00 The Strategy Execution System from A to Z: Stages 1-2: Develop and Translate the Strategy
Dr. Kaplan will kick off the Master Class with an overview of the 25-year journey of the Balanced Scorecard and Strategy Execution System. He will then discuss developing the strategy and will delve into strategic analysis and Vision-Advantage-Strategy statements. The session will conclude by illustrating how to translate the strategy into Strategy Maps and Balanced Scorecards, as well as how to organise the Strategy Map by strategic themes.

11:30-12:45 Stage 3: Aligning the Organisation and Employees to the Strategy
The session starts by describing how to cascade Strategy Maps to achieve vertical and horizontal alignment; also extending this idea to achieve inter-organisational and multi-actor alignment with external stakeholders. The session concludes by describing how to align all employees to strategic priorities.
12:45-14:00 - Q&A and Networking Lunch
14:00-15:00 Stages 4-6: Linking the Strategy to Operations, Monitor and Learn, Test and Adapt Dr. Kaplan will cover the final three stages in the Strategy Execution System and provide context around how to manage the closed-loop feedback process. It starts by linking strategic objectives to continuous improvement programs and operational dashboards. The session continues with describing periodic strategy review meetings and how to manage the six stage strategy execution system with the Office of Strategy Management.

15:30-16:15 - Leading Strategic Change
The final topic of the day will address barriers to change and how to overcome them with effective leadership. Dr. Kaplan will walk delegates through the importance of a strategic change agenda and how to achieve transformation versus incremental change.

During this workshop, Richard will walk participants through the different alignment methods and the most appropriate situations to use them. The workshop will also discuss strategic constructs, such as theme teams and accountability that guarantee that the organization understands and executes strategy in a seamless manner.

Understanding what one’s role is in executing the strategy of the organization, helps achieve a sense of purpose and ownership in the individuals, and ensures that the strategy is more likely to be successful.
Enrique will explain participants the basic components of developing personal scorecards and managing individual performance, by discussing topics such as driver trees, strategic job families, competencies and personal objectives and the important role that a formal process for managing and assessing individual performance has on achieving organizational success.
