Minera Los Pelambres (MLP) is a mining company engaged in copper and molybdenum extraction from deposits in the Los Andes mountains of Chile. It is 60% Chilean-owned through Antofagasta Minerals and 40% owned by a Japanese consortium. Net sales in 2006 exceeded $2.7 billion and after-tax profits were greater than $1.8 billion. More than 2,650 people work at MLP, 536 of them as direct employees.
