Impact by The Numbers: The Refugee Employability Programme in Southeast England

From 2023 to 2025, Palladium delivered the Home Office’s Refugee Employability Programme (REP) across Southeast England. This person-centred initiative supported over 1,250 refugees, helping them navigate the complex challenges of resettlement through a unique blend of employment coaching, targeted English language support, and integration services.

Last week, the team released a report summarising the programme's outcomes. While the stories of the lives changed by the programme goes well beyond numbers, the numbers alone tell a compelling story and show the real impact of this two year long programme.

Employment and Skills

36% of participants on programme for at least a year started work, with 84% then sustaining their job

74% of job outcomes were full-time

125 of participants achieved an accredited qualification

281 accessing personal interview preparation support via Palladiums AI Interview Coach app

English Language (ESOL)

86% of the eligible cohort was supported through targeted ESOL provision

90% completion rate for our Employability-based ESOL

Integration Support

83% people showed measurable improvement across aspects of life such as housing, health, language, and community engagement.

257 people were supported to address urgent housing needs

108 people who were homeless/at risk of homelessness secured accommodation

78% of participants with health barriers noted a positive change in their wellbeing

Over 50% of REP Case Managers had lived experience of forced migration

Partnerships

Delivered across 37+ community locations in partnership with local authorities and community partners

Worked with a network of over 300 local stakeholders with referrals from over 79 different organisations

This success was grounded in empathy, integration, and collaboration. Co-locating with local authorities (including housing teams) meant case managers could intervene early, especially when housing, mental health, or confidence were barriers to employment.

Above all, REP proved that with the right support, refugees don’t just rebuild they thrive.
