Palladium Welcomes New UK Director of Nature Naomi Conway

Naomi Conway - Palladium UK Director of Nature

Palladium has appointed Naomi Conway as UK Director of Nature, based in London, UK. Naomi is a well-known leader in UK’s green economy and brings extensive experience in catalysing innovative partnerships that work for nature, communities, ethically aligned corporates and investors.

Prior to Palladium, Conway was Director at National Parks Partnerships for eight years where she provided strategic leadership for national partnerships between the commercial sector and the UK’s 15 National Parks. In this role she forged innovative partnerships with global brands including BMW, Santander and Columbia Sportswear.

Since 2020, she has been one of the leading forces behind Revere, the award-winning collaboration between Palladium and UK National Parks. Revere scales nature-based solutions to restore landscapes across the UK National Parks and beyond to tackle the climate emergency and biodiversity crisis.

Conway has helped to develop Revere into a leading UK nature restoration project developer, nurturing projects from identification through to investment with a growing UK-wide project pipeline.

A Perfect Fit for Scaling Finance

For Naomi, this role is a perfect fit. “I've worked in close partnership with Palladium's UK nature team since 2020, so it's a natural and exciting step to make the move across,” she shares. “I'm motivated by the urgent need to bridge the gap between the UK's nature project developers and private finance. Palladium's collaboration with the National Parks as Revere sits at the heart of this.”

“As UK Director of Nature I'll be leading an incredibly talented team, and together we'll be finding ways to deliver more impact at scale and at pace.” In this post, Conway will oversee a growing portfolio of UK natural capital initiatives, including Revere, and the Nature Investment Partnership, which is designed to mobilise responsible private capital to fund nature restoration and carbon removal projects in Scotland together with NatureScot, Hampden & Co and abrdn.

Palladium’s Global Head of Natural Capital, Andrew Sutherland, believes Conway’s appointment represents a serious commitment by the company to scale UK nature-based solutions and build on the team’s work delivering climate and nature action through unlocking investment in the UK. “Naomi’s history of working with us, combined with her extensive UK nature network and leadership qualities make her the perfect person for this role.”

There is huge potential for the private sector to help close the financing gap for nature restoration and Naomi and Revere’s work has and will continue to play a role in that partnership, Sutherland explains.

“Palladium is a market leading Nature-based Solutions (NbS) project developer and strategy advisor and is experienced working with investors, asset managers and corporate organisations.”

Sutherland adds that in the last five years, the team has developed a portfolio of investable, high integrity UK nature projects that have the potential to transform landscapes, create green jobs and contribute to UK net zero and biodiversity targets. Perhaps most importantly, this includes the largest pipeline of woodland carbon projects in the UK, with significant peatland and other natural capital opportunities under development.

“Naomi has committed her career to developing win-win high value partnerships with sector leading organisations that deliver real impact for nature, and I’m thrilled that she’s joining the team to help us realise our ambitions for UK nature and biodiversity.”
