National Food Safety Authority Laboratory Information Management System

Palladium's Trade Reform and Development in Egypt (TRADE) project needs assistance developing and implementing a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), which aims to enhance the performance and testing results of the Egypt National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) Headquarters (HQ) and newly established laboratories. This system will manage the entire process from testing request submission to delivering valid and reliable results.

The newly established laboratories are located at Dekheila Port (Alexandria), Damietta Port, Safaga Port (Red Sea), Nuweiba Port (South Sinai), and East Port Said (Port Said), with streamlined operations connected to the NFSA HQ in Cairo.

The primary objective of the LIMS is to manage the sample testing process, including the workflow of all steps and processes, to produce reliable, accurate, and integrity-driven results. This system will enhance knowledge management and improve efficiency.

To ensure process effectiveness, the LIMS will strengthen process automation, monitor testing kits and reagents, and track instrument performance for data mining and continual improvement. Additionally, the system will provide a web user interface for search, retrieval, and necessary approvals, streamlining the process and minimizing human error or data redundancy.
